I've now been working with children and teenagers (as well
as their parents of course) for some 20 years either as teacher, parent or NLP coach. Over these years I see patterns
and have refined many of the NLP tools and techniques so that children of any age can learn them quickly and use them in whatever
situations they find difficult.
Parents
often want me to see their child but actually I find more changes happen when I see the parents first. This is because parents
can learn about NLP from me, start to notice what happens when they change their focus and their language patterns and by
modelling their own ability to take on new thinking and ways of behaving, this prepares their child for change as well. Often
in fact the child does not need to come because after a Skype or telephone consultation (or even an exchange via my Facebook
Group) parents report that already they are seeing an improvement.
If you don't live near enough to come and see me or you want to learn more about how to use NLP with children,
read my book NLP for Children which is excellent for children aged 5-11yrs. You can work through it with them doing the exercises
together or you can give it to them to read. I had a parent once who was convinced her child had ADHD and after they'd
worked through my book she realised he was simply kinaesthetic! She switched him to a more sporty school and he fitted in
like a hand in a glove!
Children
are really responsive to NLP and love the idea that we focus on when things are going well rather than the bad times. They
realise they have choices and possibilities with NLP and the little techniques they learn with NLP can so easily be applied
throughout their life.
